Austrian mezzo-soprano Anna-Katharina Tonauer is back at Oper Frankfurt, where she made her debut singing Tisbe in 2017/18, to sing Nancy in Flotow's Martha. She's been a member of the ensemble at the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich since 2016/17, where roles have included the title role and Tisbe (La Cenerentola), Charlotte (Werther), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), 2nd Lady (Die Zauberflöte), Dorabella (Così fan tutte); Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Maddalena (Rigoletto), Olga (Eugene Onegin), Muse / Nicklausse (The Tales of Hoffmann) and Lucy (Threepenny Opera). She recently sang Roßweiße and 2nd Norn in new Siegfrieds and Götterdämmerungs at the Tirol Festival in Erl, the title role in La Cenerentola at the Pfalztheater in Kaiserslautern and Stadttheater in Heilbronn, Maddalena at the Aalto Musiktheater in Essen, Rosina at the Nationaltheater in Mannheim and Dorabella in Salzburg, Linz, Graz and Vienna. This prize winner at the 2014 and 2015 Musica Juventis Singing Competition graduated from the University for Music and the Performing Arts in Vienna, where she studied with Gabriele Fontana and Karlheinz Hanser. She took part in masterclasses, including ones held by Brigitte Fassbaender, Anne Sofie von Otter and Helmut Deutsch.
