Katharina Ruckgaber joined the ensemble at Theater Freiburg in the 2017/18 season, where roles have included Mélisande (Pelléas et Mélisande), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Adele (Die Fledermaus) and Musetta (La Bohème). She sang Ännchen (Der Freischütz) at the Staatstheater in Karlsruhe and can be heard at the Staatstheater in Darmstadt singing Pamina in Die Zauberflöte and Adele. After studying at the University for Music and Theatre in Munich this young soprano joined the Opera Studio at Oper Frankfurt, where her roles included Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Waldvogel (Forest Bird) (Siegfried), Frasquita (Carmen) and Eurydike (Telemann's Orpheus). She has also appeared with the Akademie for Early Music under René Jacobs at the Theater an der Wien, the Gärtnerplatztheater and Prinzregententheater in Munich, the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte in Montepulciano, Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow (Clizia in Handel's Teseo) and with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra. Other concert work has included Fennimore in Weill's Der Silbersee / The Silver Sea in the Konzerthaus in Berlin under Iván Fischer and Reimann's Hölderlin-Fragmenten with the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland Pfalz. She has appeared in recital in the Wigmore Hall London, Konzerthaus in Vienna and the Oxford Lieder Festival.  She received scholarships from, amongst others, the German Bühnenverein and siaa Foundation and won the Anneliese Rothenberger Singing Competition.
