The Romanian-British soprano Simona Mihai, who graduated from Covent Garden's Jette Parker Young Artists Programme in London, is making her debut in Germany singing Mimì (role debut) in La Bohème at Oper Frankfurt. Roles at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden have included Musetta (La Bohème), Nedda (Pagliacci) and Frasquita (Carmen). Simona Mihai has also sung Adina (L’elisir d’amore) at the Salzburg Landestheater, Second Niece (Peter Grimes) and Pousette (Manon) at La Scala Milan, the Governess (The Turn of the Screw) at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile, Roxana (Król Roger) at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and Despina (Così fan tutte) with Glyndebourne Touring Opera. Concert work has included appearances with the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and the Salzburg Camerata. She is also much sought after as Lieder singer. Places where she has appeared in recital have included the Wigmore Hall in London, Birmingham Symphony Hall, the Royal Opera House in Copenhagen and the Edinburgh International Festival.
